John P. Sullins III, PhD

John P. Sullins is a full professor of philosophy at Sonoma State University and the director of programming for the Sonoma State University Center for Ethics Law and Society (CELS). His specializations are philosophy of technology, philosophical issues of artificial intelligence/robotics, cognitive science, philosophy of science, engineering ethics, and computer ethics. Dr. Sullins is involved in industry and government consultation involving ethical practices in technology design. He was the co-author of IEEE Courses on Ethics and AI and Autonomous Systems as well as chairing the committee on Affective Computing for the IEEE “Ethically Aligned Design: A Vision for Prioritizing Human Well-being With Autonomous and Intelligent Systems” and co-chairs the IEEE Standards Committee P7008 - Standard for Ethically Driven Nudging for Robotic, Intelligent and Autonomous Systems. He is also the Secretary and Treasurer of the Society for Philosophy and Technology.

Ryan Jenkins, PhD

Ryan Jenkins, PhD

Ryan Jenkins is a full professor of philosophy and associate director of the Ethics + Emerging Sciences Group at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He studies the ethics of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence and robotics, and especially in the domains of defense and security. His work has appeared in journals such as Ethics & Information Technology, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice, and the Journal of Military Ethics, as well as public forums including the Washington Post, Slate, and Forbes.

Patrick Lin, PhD

Patrick Lin, PhD

Patrick Lin is the director of the Ethics + Emerging Sciences Group at Cal Poly, where he is a full philosophy professor. He is currently affiliated with Stanford Law School, the 100 Year Study on AI, Czech Academy of Sciences, Center for a New American Security, and the World Economic Forum. Previous affiliations include Stanford’s School of Engineering, US Naval Academy, University of Notre Dame, Dartmouth, UNIDIR, and the Fulbright specialist program (University of Iceland). Prof. Lin is well published in technology ethics—especially related to security and defense—and is regularly invited to provide briefings on the subject to industry, media, and government.
